Meng-Chun Chien
Biography
Meng-Chun Chien, a native of Taiwan, performs actively in solo recitals, chamber concerts and lecture recitals. As a teacher, Chien promotes music for young students and the community by performing several concerts as a guest solo artist as well as a collaborator. In 2012, he was a winner of the Sidney Write prize in accompanying at Texas. In summer 2012, he was invited to be guest collaborator for the Clear Creek summer festival. From 2013 to 2015, he served as an opera coach for Illini Lyric Theatre as well as school accompanist at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. As a chair of the Champaign chapter of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), he has been recognized as a fine teacher for young artists. Chien has won numerous solo and chamber competitions in Taiwan, which led him to frequently perform and give master class in the colleges and high schools. Chien received his Bachelor of Music from Southern Illinois University and Master of Music degrees in Piano Performance from University of Texas at Austin. Currently, he is a candidate for the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance and Literature from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In 2015, Chien joined Performance Art Institution at Wyoming Seminary as piano faculty.
