There are three published versions of this rarely-played masterwork (S. 210, S. 210a and S. 214) the earliest dating back to 1839. Liszt revised the work in 1840 and then again for the 1852 publication of the 3 Caprices-Valses S. 214, along with the revisions of Valse de bravoure and the Valse de concert sur deux motifs de Lucia et Parisina de Donizetti. This neglected masterwork was first recorded by Claudio Arrau in 1928 for HMV.
