This is the second of '3 Morceaux caractéristiques' by the American organist and composer Horatio Parker (1863-1918). Listening to this, one would think he was trained in France, given the Faure-like harmonic switches, but actually he studied in Munich with Rheinberger. This piece dates from 1899, at a time when he held an organist post in Boston. The title means 'The Grasshopper', and the music jumps around to illustrate this!
