Biography

Alexander Borovsky (1889 - 1968)

Pianist.  Born in Riga.  Graduated from the Law School of the Moscow University and the Moscow Conservatory (1912, class of Anna Yesipova).  Taught at the Moscow Conservatory from 1915 to 1920.  Since 1920 Borovsky lived mostly outside of Russia, but in the 1930s frequently played concerts in Moscow and Leningrad.  Was famous for his interpretation of Bach, Rameau, Scarlatti, Couperin, and also Scriabin and Prokofiev.  Borovsky lived in the US since 1940s and died in Waban, MA.
