Amaury Coeytaux, Violin
Biography
French violinist Amaury Coeytaux began playing piano at age 4 followed by violin lessons at age 8. He made his first public appearance with an orchestra at age 11. He was featured live on Radio France, playing the third Ysaye sonata.
Mr. Coeytaux studied with Micheline Lefebvre and later with Jean-Jacques Kantorow at the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique de Paris. He graduated from the conservatory with top honors. In 2003, Mr. Coeytaux came to the US to continue his studies with Pinchas Zukerman and Patinka Kopec.
In 2004, he made his Carnegie Hall debut at Stern Auditorium under conductor David Gilbert. Following this success, he toured extensively, performing in major concert venues around the world, such as the Salle Gaveau in Paris, Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, for CBC Radio in Ottawa and the TV station TF1 in France and with the philharmonic orchestras of Rome, the Ukraine and Paris.
As a chamber musician, he has performed at the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, the Givemy International Chamber Music Festival and the Summer Stars Concert Series in New Jersey. He has collaborated with prominent musicians, including Joseph Silverstein, Pinchas Zukerman and Joseph Kalischtein.
Mr. Coeytaux is winner of numerous international competitions, including the 2006 Rodolfo Lipizer Competition, as well as 5 special prizes; 2004 Julius Stulberg International String Competition; 2004 Rosalind & Joseph Stone Berg Philharmonic Competition; 2004 Waldo Mayo Violin Competition; and the 1997 Royaume de la Musique Competition.
Mr. Coeytaux plays on a 1773 Guadagnini violin.
