Scherzo-Tarantella for Violin and Piano, Op. 16 Henryk Wieniawski, Arr. Seeli Toivio
Henri Wieniawski was born in Lublin, Poland. His talent for playing the violin was recognized early, and in 1843 he entered the Paris Conservatory. Wieniawski published his first composition, Grand Caprice Fantastique, in 1847, and it represented the beginning of a small but important output.
In the late 1850´s, he wrote his famous Scherzo-Tarantella Op. 16, which is probably his best known work. It is mostly performed by violinists, but Seeli Toivio´s arrangement for the cello takes this virtuoso piece even a few steps further.Seeli Toivio
