Biography
As an active soloist and chamber musician, pianist Martin Labazevitch has performed throughout Europe, Israel, Japan and the United States receiving enthusiastic reviews from The Strad (U.K.) , Septynios Meno Dienos (Lithuania) and Diario de Leon (Spain). He is a recipient of the Rina Menashe Award in Israel, the Kosciuszko Foundation scholarship in New York, and the Harold and Helen Schoenberg Scholarship and Harold Bauer Award, both from Manhattan School of Music.
He has soloed with many orchestras, including Orquestra Joven de Andalucia (Spain), St.Kristoforo Kamernis Orkestras (Lithuania) , New York Sinfonietta, Hamptons Festival Orchestra , TIPC Symphony Orchestra (Japan), under such conductors as Donatas Katkus, Ki-Sun Sung, Shunsaku Tsutsumi and Lukas Foss.
Mr. Labazevitch has appeared on WNYC and WQXR radio stations and at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall in New York City. His festival performances included at the Liszt Academy in Weimar, Germany; Radom International Music Festival in Poland; Tel Hai Piano Festival in Israel; Suolahti Music Festival in Finland; Mozarteum Akademie in Salzburg, Austria; and the Music Festival of Hamptons in New York. He has worked with and performed for such notable artists as Philippe Entremont, Stephen Hough, Dmitri Bashkirov, Bella Davidovich, Joaquin Soriano and Earl Wild. He also has worked with and given performances of living composers such as Richard Danielpour and Lukas Foss.
Recent and upcoming performance highlights include the National Philharmonic Hall in Vilnius, Palau de la Musica in Valencia, Auditorio Cuidad de Leon in Spain, performance with the Vilnius String Quartet, as well as concerto performances in Spain, Lithuania and Poland.
Born in Poland, pianist Martin Labazevitch started his music studies at the age of five, attending the Paderewski School of Music in Poland, where he studied with Barbara Hetper-Rosolowska. He continued his studies at the Odessa Academy of Music in Ukraine with Prof. Anatoly Kardashov until he immigrated to the U.S. and became a scholarship student at the Manhattan School of Music, where he completed his Bachelor, Masters, and Professional Studies Degrees under the guidance of Horacio Gutierrez.
