Nadine Sierra, Soprano
Biography
This season, rising soprano Nadine Sierra appeared at the San Francisco Opera in the world premiere of Heart of a Soldier and in Die Zauberflöte, made her debut at the Florida Grand Opera as Gilda in Rigoletto, and recently appeared in recital in Carnegie Hall’s Weill Hall. In May 2013, Ms. Sierra will make her debut singing the role of Gilda at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, Italy.
She recently made her debut at the Boston Lyric Opera as Tytania in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, returned to the Palm Beach Opera in the title role in Orfeo ed Euridice, and appeared in Gotham Chamber Opera’s critically acclaimed production of Montsalvatge’s El gato con botas.
A graduate of the Mannes College of Music, Ms. Sierra is currently an Adler Fellow at the San Francisco Opera. She was previously a member of the opera company’s Merola Opera Program, where she appeared as Adina in L’Elisir d’Amore. Ms. Sierra has also participated in the Palm Beach Opera’s Young Artists Program, the International Vocal Arts Institute, and The Music Academy of the West. Her roles have included Sandman in Hansel und Gretel, Beth in Little Women, and Despina in Cosí fan tutte. In recital she has been presented in New York City by the Marilyn Horne Foundation, and appeared in an American song recital with Thomas Hampson at the Supreme Court.
Ms. Sierra’s many awards include Grand Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions (2009), second place in the Mirjam Helin International Vocal Competition (2009), a winner of the George London Competition (2010), first place in the Gerda Lissner International Competition (2010), and first place in the Loren Zachary Competition (2010).
