Naria Kim, Violin
Biography
New York born violinist Naria Kim made her solo debut performing with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra as a winner of the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra Soloist Audition. She has also been invited to perform at the Rising Star Series at the Great Mountains International Music Festival (KOR), the Elan International Music Festival (Vermont), the Gala Concert at the Canetti International Music Festival (Italy), as well as venues in Switzerland, Belgium, and at the Rabi-Warner Concert Series recital at NY Columbia University. She has also been invited to give solo recitals and concerts at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, NY Symphony Space Hall, and the Seoul Arts Center.
Ms. Kim is a winner of the Kumho Young Artist Audition, the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra Soloist Audition, prize winner of the Osaka International Music Competition, the Eurasia International Violin Competition and 1st prize winner at the Alexander & Buono International String Competition to name a few.
Ms. Kim attended the Korea National University of Arts through the early entrance program for gifted students, completing her BM in only three years. She obtained her Master's Degree and Artist Diploma on full scholarship with Hyo Kang at the Yale School of Music. She continued her study at Stony Brook University where she studied with Philip Setzer as a DMA student and graduated in two years. During her studies, she has served as undergraduate violin faculty at the Naugatuck Valley Community College and Stony Brook. Recently, she joined the faculty of the Chung-Ang University. She is also a member of the ‘We Soloists’ Chamber group, the JK Ensemble, and she served as Concertmaster of the New Korea Philharmonic Orchestra with whom she performed as a soloist in multiple venues.
