Marc-André Hamelin was born in Montreal in
1961 and is one of the premier pianists of his generation. Hamelin
has also composed several works, including a set of 12 piano études
in all the minor keys, which was completed in September 2009. As the title of the work on today's program
implies, Hamelin makes use of many of Scarlatti's keyboard techniques in this
playful and quirky study, published in 1992.
