Rachel Lee, Violin
Biography
Violinist Rachel Lee is one of today's most
captivating artists, and has made several important debuts in recent seasons,
including a debut in February 2007 with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Other
recent debuts have included performances with the Saint Louis, Houston, and
Seattle Symphonies.
Ms. Lee's previous
engagements have included with the National Symphony, Colorado Symphony, Rochester
Philharmonic, and at the Aspen Music Festival. She has performed in Korea, and
with the State Symphony Cappella of Russia.
Her European concerto debut was in October 2006, performing with the
Berlin Staatskapelle. She made her European recital debut at age 15 on the
Louvre recital series in Paris.
In the United States, Ms.
Lee's numerous recital appearances have included performances on Ravinia's
"Rising Stars" series in Chicago and the Matinee Musicale series in Cincinnati.
She has been featured on radio and television, including a broadcast on PBS
with Itzhak Perlman and an "American Masters" documentary.
Born
in Chicago in 1988, Ms. Lee began her violin studies at the age of four, and in
1996 begans studies with the late Dorothy DeLay. Rachel became a student of Itzhak
Perlman at the age of 10. She is currently a senior at Harvard College, where
she is pursuing a degree in English, while studying with Miriam Fried at the
New England Conservatory in Boston. She returns this summer for a second season
with the Steans Institute for Young Artists at the Ravinia Festival.
