Musician's or Publisher's Notes
This virtuoso fantasy for violin and piano is sort of a reflection on the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945. It incorporates nine famous songs of the Soviet composers written during the wartime or dedicated to the subject of war.
Composer masterly blends well-known tunes with his own original material presented only in the meditations of solo violin using it as a unifying device.
Despite of stylistic diversity of the songs, composer luckily managed to reach considerable homogeneity, creating a composition filled with poetical emotions, humor and positivity.
List of the songs used in the piece:
“Ballad of a Soldier” by V. Solovyov-Sedoy
“March of the Moscow’s Defenders” by B. Mokrousov
“In the Woods at the Frontline” by M.Blanter
“In the Blindage” by K. Listov
“Evening in the Harbor” by V. Solovyov-Sedoy
“At the Sunny Glade” by V. Solovyov-Sedoy
