Biography
Xavier Larsson Paez began his studies of violin and saxophone in his hometown, Ciutadella de Menorca, Spain, and graduated in Saxophone with the Extraordinary Prize at the Conservatory of Liceu in Barcelona. Currently, he is studying for the Konzertexamen and a Master of Contemporary Music at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne.
Mr. Larsson has won national and international competitions almost every year for the last 10 years: 1st prize in the II International Competition Lodz 2012 (Poland), 1st prize in the Concurso Permamente de Jovenes Interpretes of Jeunesses Musicales of Spain, 1st prize in the Certamen Nacional de Interpretacion Intercentros Melomano in the profesional category (Spain), and 2nd prize in the Primer Palau where he also obtained the Prize of the Critics (Spain). He is a prize winner of the prestigious III Jean Marie Londeix International Saxophone Competition (Thailand), and with the Fukio Ensemble won 1st prize at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Hochschulwettbewerb 2014 in Berlin. Mr. Larsson received a Wardwell scholarship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, a scholarship from Foundation Ferrer Salat and a scholarship from Agustí Pedro Pons Foundation.
As a soloist, he has recorded Sax-Time, edited by Jeunesses Musicales of Spain, and has performed as a soloist in venues such as Teatro Monumental in Madrid with the Orchestra of the Spanish National Television, National Auditorium of Music in Madrid with the Chamartin Symphony Orchestra, National Orchestra of Andorra in Palau de la Musica in Barcelona, and with the National Orchestra of Thailand in Bangkok. He has also performed in the United States, Sweden, Portugal, Estonia, England, Germany, Austria, Poland, Chile and Singapore.
He is member of the Fukio Ensemble and the “Banda Municipal de Ciutadella”.
