The Triakontameron is a suite of 30 pieces, in 30 moods and scenes for piano solo composed in 1920 by Godowsky, an American composer of Polish origin. His obsessive love of the waltz made the 30 pieces in three-four time. Alt-Wien is rich in Old World nostalgia, with the added sense of ‘vanished world’. It carries the superscription, “Where yesterdays look backwards with a smile through tears.”Angela Youngmi Choi
