FROM FACEBOOK POST : Our final backlogged recording here in Mackdaddyland uploaded is this piece and a recording that will always have special poignancy-- RIP --Jennifer Bourianoff your always spectacular musicality and your spirit are always deeply missed. This also was one of my first pieces almost ENTIRELY ( I think I wrote the coda later ) .. in a car. More than a decade ago our traditional Xmas eve visit to Grandma's was cut to a few short hours and back as uncle Danny Thompson drove us in the snow down I-65. During the slow and go, of course I couldn't just sit there-- and I wrote 95% of this piece as I looked out the window. There is even literal tone painting in this ( hence the subtitle) with the pizzicato in the extremely high range, that dry arpeggio meant to literally evoke the icicles breaking. Here is Op 187 from 2005-- When I Wondered What The Kentucky Icicles Were Dreaming: Lied-Tone Poem for Solo Violin -- indeed RIP Jen.
