Richter is superb in this, interpreting Liszt himself as a great showman who reminds his audience at the right time that he is also an accomplished artist with a serious message. The orchestra should be a bit more interested in letting him get on with it, as their part is essential to his glory and not their own, but overall this is one of the best editions of this concerto.
