This performance is the West Coast premiere of my Piano Sonata (inspired by Beethoven), performed by the Steinway Artist, Susan Merdinger (to whom it was dedicated) at the Encinitas Library on November 7, 2018. My Piano Sonata was inspired by the first movement of Beethoven's Sonata Op.53 (Waldstein.) Although my Sonata has not a single note of Beethoven's music in it, what inspired me was Beethoven's use of form and his treatment of the piano.
