This composition by Leplin is Part One of Divertimento for Chamber Orchestra, written in 1971. (Part Two, Requiem for a Dog, has never been performed.) The performance is by the (no longer extant) Little Symphony of the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, Niklaus Wyss, conductor. This concert occurs at about the same time that the composer was hospitalized after an accident. He never recovered. The concert may have been rushed, which may have accounted for the lack of cohesion of parts of this otherwise vivid and exciting performance.
