Biography
Clarinetist Alexander
Bedenko’s accomplishments range from taking top honors at international competitions
to holding principal positions with orchestras under world-renowned conductors.
Born in 1982 in Kharkov, Ukraine, Mr. Bedenko
graduated from The Curtis Institute of Music in 2005, where he studied with
Donald Montanaro.
Mr. Bedenko
has claimed prizes in major competitions, including the 1994 First Prize and Laureate
from the Second International Young Artist’s Competition in Moscow, the 1995-96
first prize winner of the Interlochen Center for the Arts Concerto Competition,
and the 1999 Grand-Prix and Laureate of the International Open Clarinet
Competition in Kiev. He was a scholarship recipient from the Vladimir Spivakov
Foundation and from the President of Ukraine from 1997 to 1999.
As
a soloist, Mr.Bedenko has
collaborated with several orchestras in Russia, Ukraine and Romania. Festival appearances include Colmar in France, Verbier Music Festival and
Academy in Switzerland, and the Sarasota Music Festival.
Alexander
Bedenko was also honored to
be the sole Ukranian representative at the UN’s 50th anniversary jubilee in Geneva and the 50th anniversary of UNESCO in Paris. He has
appeared in solo and chamber concerts in Bol’shoi Hall at The Moscow State
Conservatory, Weill Recital Hall at The Carnegie Hall, Gipson Hall in London,
Bol’shoi Theatre in Moscow, Kiev State Opera House, Steinway Hall, The
Metropolitan Museum, and Millennium
Stage at The Kennedy Center.
