Carmen Fantasy on Themes from Georges Bizet's Opera (based on Fantaisie sur Carmen by François Borne) Ransom Wilson
Ransom Wilson's Carmen Fantasy for Flute and Orchestra is based on the Fantaisie Sur Carmen by François Borne, which treats the best known themes in brilliant coloratura. Borne was a professor of flute at the Toulouse Conservatory with an interest in fashioning new repertoire for his instrument. Ransom Wilson, professor of flute at Yale University, went on to include previously omitted themes and to remove material that did not exist in the original opera. Jessica Warren-Acosta
