In 1925, Astor Piazzolla’s family moved to the violent streets of Greenwich Village in NYC from Argentina. As a young boy, he received a gift from his father, a bandoneon that his father found in a local flea market. That gift and records of tangos, jazz and classical music would eventually save young Astor from the dangers of the streets and turn him into the most influential tango composer. Adios Nonino (“Farewell Father”)was written in memory of his father a few days after his passing and has been orchestrated for numerous combinations of instruments, almost always including the bandoneon.Yana Reznik
