Presto passionato in g minor, Op. 22a Robert Schumann
Schumann's
early attempts at writing piano sonatas were largely unfinished, until he
published the Sonata in f-sharp minor in 1836 with a dedication to Clara Wieck.
He began composing what would become his second sonata, opus 22, with the second movement
Andantino in June 1830. The first and
third movements were written in June 1833 and the original demanding Finale (which
we are hearing in today's concert) came from October 1835. Alessandro Taverna
