Antonio Soler was born in Gerona, Spain in 1729. He was organist and choirmaster of the
monastery of the Escorial from 1753 until his death in 1783.
He wrote much church music, organ concertos, chamber music, and many
sonatas for keyboard. He probably
studied with Scarlatti, which may explain the similar style of the two
