This piece for solo piano develops out of Johann Crüger's melody "Schmücke dich, o liebe Seele" (1649). The title of Crüger's work means "Deck Thyself, My Soul with Gladness". In Psalm 65:12, David writes that "the hills are clothed with gladness". In composing this piece, I hope to have musically expressed the meaning of and behind these words.
