Biography
Hailed for her "sensitive touch, sense of line, ability to summon tone colors and a playing which honors the music" (Peter Jacobi, Bloomington Herald times), Chicago-based pianist Ruti Abramovitch is a talented artist whose interpretations and communicative playing have gained her much acclaim.
Born in Israel, Ruti began her studies at an early age in a local conservatory in her home town near Tel Aviv. She obtained her master’s degree from the Tel Aviv Academy of Music and continued her studies at Indiana University, Bloomington, with world renowned musician and pedagogue Menahem Pressler.
Among the prizes and awards Ruti has won are the Concerto Competition at Indiana University, the Indianapolis Matinee Musicale, and the Tel Aviv Academy Competition.
She is currently finishing her Doctor of Music degree in piano performance from Indiana University, while teaching at Vandercook College of Music of Chicago. Her recent performances in the Chicagoland area include a CSO preview concert at Fullerton Hall in the Art Institute of Chicago and a chamber performance at the Piano Forte Salon series broadcast on Chicago's classical radio station WFMT.
