Biography
Pianist Yehong Shihas been noted for his expressive and sensitive playing in both his native China and the US
As a soloist, he has performed at Yanjiao Music Hall (2003), Dayou Music Hall (2004), Music Hall of the Central Conservatory of Music (2004 and 2005), “Golden Source Epoch” (2005), the Baishan Music Hall (2006 and 2007), Enjizhuang Music Hall (2007 and 2008), Guangren Art Center Music Hall (2007 and 2008), Ganz Hall (2016), and many other venues.
His awards include the winner of Dayou Music Competition, the Chinese composition Award and second prize winner of the Sonata Award of Qingdao Music Festival in 2007, and Finalist of the Piano Concerto Competition of the First Zhouguangren piano summer institute in 2006. His competition successes in the US include Finalist of Piano Concerto Competition of Manhattan School of Music in 2015, Second prize of Rondo Forma Piano Competition, 2015, and Second prize winner of BMC Zimmerli piano competition(2016).
Mr. Shi began piano when he was 10 years old and his talent was discovered by Professor Zhou Guang Ren who encouraged him to pursue a career as concert pianist. He mastered a large repertoire by performing around Beijing.
He is currently completing his Master of Music degree studying with Dr. Wael Farouk at Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of Performing Arts. He received his Bachelor of Music degree at the Manhattan School of Music where he studied with Dr. Solomon Mikowsky, Mr. Alexandre Moutouzkine, and Dr. Marc Silverman.
