FrenchExpressionistcomposerand writer Marc Delmas studied at the Paris Conservatory and won several prestigious competitions. Delmas taught music in Paris, was a biographer of notable musicians, and was also a prolific composer, known mainly for stage works, although he also wrote choral, solo and chamber music. It is in the latter category that we can include his Fantaisie Italienne for Clarinet and Piano which he composed in 1921, for the Paris Conservatory competition. It is in some way reminiscent of Debussy’s Première Rhapsodie, also for clarinet and piano.Samuel Brandão Marques
