Domenico Scarlatti was an Italian composer from a musical family. He was the 6th of 10 children of composer Alessandro Scarlatti. Domenico was a contemporary of J. S. Bach and George Handel. Scarlatti was an Italian native, but he moved to Spain to serve the Spanish court from 1729 until his death. Scarlatti composed operas, oratorios, cantatas, but he was most famous for his 555 keyboard sonatas. His keyboard sonatas are single-movement works in binary form, each sonata requires different technical demands from the performer, from rapid repeated notes, crossing hands, fast arpeggios to multi-voice fugal writing.Notes by YinJia Lin
