Niccolò Paganini was one of the most celebrated violin virtuosi of his time, and left his mark as a pillar of modern violin technique. He is most well-known for his legendary Twenty-Four Caprices, Op.1 for solo violin. The melodic Caprice No.17 in E flat major, Op.1 is one of my favorite caprices for its many character changes and the middle section in G minor, written exclusively in fiendishly difficult fingered-octaves.
