Scarlatti’s nearly six hundred keyboard sonatas are simple short pieces in one movement, which the unpretentious composer called “Exercises for Harpsichord.” Scarlatti wrote, “Do not expect to find in these compositions any profound intention... Show yourself more human than critical, and thus you will increase your own pleasure… Live Happily!” In this Sonata, we find ourselves in the climate of sunlight and warmth. It is Italy, it is Spain – the spirit of the Latin countries and the god of the Mediterranean.Victor Goldberg
