Federico Mompou's fabulous Variations on a Theme by Chopin (1951), is almost completely unknown, yet it immediately becomes a favorite of everyone who hears it. Mompou is a very special composer--his music has an almost shy quality, with enormous depth of feeling behind a simple and accessible surface. There is only one existing recording of this work, and it gives me great pleasure to introduce audiences to the piece.Yoonjung Han
