Pajaro triste (“Sad Birds”), from Impresiones Intimas
Influenced by Debussy and the French Impressionist style, Spanish-born composer Federico Mompou’s Pajaro triste (“Sad Birds”), La barca (“The Boat”) and Cuna (“The Cradle”) represent to me an incredible feeling for freedom, endless flow and eternal pulse. I like to add a touch of expressionist feeling to certain sections in my interpretations of these three pieces.Tania Stavreva
