Selections from Suite Paysanne HongroiseBéla Bartók, arr. by Paul Arma
The compositional output of Bela Bartok was profoundly influenced by his dedicated work as an ethnomusicologist. His Suite Paysanne Hongroise, originally written for solo piano, was arranged by his student Paul Arma and is now a widely performed transcription. Organized into two parts: Old Songs and Old Dances, each of the folk songs are based on melodies and dances that Bartok collected throughout Eastern Europe.Catherine Gregory
