Eric Ewazen is one of the most prolific contemporary composers for brass. His works have been commissioned, performed and recorded by internationally acclaimed soloists and orchestras including Charles Vernon and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra among many others. Commissioned in 1997 by the New York Philharmonic and subsequently premiered by members of the orchestra's brass section, A Philharmonic Fanfare was written to honor retiring board member Kenneth Campbell. Characteristic of Ewazen's joyous sound, this piece is a virtuosic showcase for the brass trio and has quickly become one of the most performed works of the repertoire. V3NTO
