Struggling to make a living, Mozart decided to venture into the commercially successful sphere of Singspiels. In 1791, he partnered with his fellow Freemason, Emanuel Schikaneder, to create TheMagic Flute which premiered on September 30 of that year. Two days prior on September 28, Mozart composed the Singspiel's famous overture. TheMagic Flute tells the mythical tale of Prince Tamino's adventures rescuing the Queen of the Night's daughter.
