Great to hear a great classic of Schumann with the wonderful piano of Artur Rubinstein. Every time I hear this concerto, I remember my parents and grandparents who also loved this work and usually commented on the performance.
They only heard the work played on wind-up RCA Victrola's with scratchy 78" records and with worn needles, but I get to enjoy the mp3 quality experience of almost being in the performance audience. Only good memories come back to me when I hear this stellar work.
Now I'm 2+ years later and came back to hear this piece again. It resonates with history of my family again. My mother spent many hours trying to duplicate Rubinstein's sound on her cherry, concert-grand piano. Her love of this has transferred to me. Rubinstein will always be my champion on this.
