Henryk Wieniawski mostly composed works for the violin, which he premiered and performed throughout his life. Nowadays, his compositions are a big part of the virtuoso violin repertoire. He invented several important bowing techniques, including the "devil's staccato" - very long and fast passages with many short, separated notes on one bow. This technique was later used by many other composers. Polonaise Brillante No.2 in A major, Op.21 is a rarely performed work due to many challenging staccatos that Wieniawski himself could play particularly well. Piotr Filochowski
