The
suite Iberia, written between December 1905 and January 1909, represents
the fulfillment of an aim that had inspired the career of Isaac Albéniz: a desire to create, in his own words, "Spanish
music with a universal accent". The twelve pieces, spread between four books,
represent a grand tour of Spain.
"Almeria" is the capital of a province in the southeast region of the
country along the Mediterranean. The
meter oscillates between 6/8 and 3/4 giving the piece its dance flavor. Pia Bose
