Yvar Mikhashoff was internationally known as an
interpreter of 20th century piano works and as a performer and curator of
American music. Over 100 composers wrote 3-minute tangos for his tango
collection between the years 1983 and 1991. Thorn-Torn Lips, by American
composer Robert Berkman is from this collection. It is an old fashioned tango
in which the composer often resorts to using elements of ragtime style and
habanera rhythms. The title "Thorn-Torn Lips" refers to an impetuous kiss given
to a sexy senorita with a rose in her teeth before she even has a chance to
