Distinguished Professor at the University of Michigan. In 1988 he was awarded
the Pulitzer Prize for his 12 New Etudes
for Piano. The Garden of Eden,
composed in 1969, is a cycle of 4 Ragtime-inspired piano pieces telling the
story of Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden. In The Serpent's Kiss, Bolcom incorporates the sounds of early Rock 'n
Roll, Broadway, tap dancing music, and silent film music into his own unique
