Andre Bloch (1873 – 1960) was a French composer and music educator whose principal teacher was Massenet. He was known primarily as an opera composer. His first opera Maida premiered in 1909, and his last opera was created in 1939 and premiered in 1949 at the Opera Comique in Paris. He also composed symphonic works, ballets, chamber music, piano works and chansons.
Denneriana was written as a piece for the Paris Conservatory's Solo de Concours in 1938, the title being a tribute to the inventor of the clarinet Johann Christoph Denner. It was composed for Auguste Perier, professor at the Conservatoire Nationale de Musique et d'Art Dramatique. This piece is a virtuoso piece with many operatic influences.Sergey Gutorov
