Fantasy on themes from "The Golden Cockerel" Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, arranged by Vassily Getman
The Fantasy on themes from the opera The Golden Cockerel was arranged by V. Getman for clarinet. Getman was an important Russian clarinetist during the 2nd world war through the 1960's and premiered many important compositions during this time in Russia. Rimsky-Korsakov completed TheGolden Cockerel in 1907, an opera inspired by Alexander Pushkin's poem The Tale of the Golden Cockerel, and it had political undertones. The government banned the production and this delayed the premier until after Rimsky-Korsakov's death. This arrangement includes many fiendishly difficult passages for the clarinet.Sergey Gutorov
