The inspiration behind the "Circle of Waltzes" project was to demonstrate the historical richness of the waltz genre by presenting a wide variety of works composed through various different time periods. It is very interesting to observe the different perspectives and distinctive approaches of each composer of the program.
Ukrainian composer Valentin Silvestrov wrote Two Waltzesin 2004 for the birthday of pianist Alexei Lubimov. These short waltzes are very poetic and sensitive.
