The inspiration behind the "Circle of Waltzes" project was to demonstrate the historical richness of the waltz genre by presenting a wide variety of works composed through various different time periods. It is very interesting to observe the different perspectives and distinctive approaches of each composer of the program.
Georgian born American composer George Oakley - Night Waltz (written in 2015). The music is inspired by Nietzsche’s Zaratustra and Lenau’s Faust. The musical tone is extremely dark and pessimistic.
